Store History

  • Founded by: Julie Baine

There's something about Pod that makes you want to linger. Despite its small footprint, there's a cool, calm, ineffable vibe that draws people in and keeps them coming back. The fact that it's stocked with a thoughtfully curated selection of "just right" housewares doesn't hurt either.

Pod's homey atmosphere is due in part to its friendly, down-to-earth owner, Julie Baine, whose discerning eye has brought a modern organic aesthetic to the bucolic Brookline Village outpost. Choosing quality over quantity, she has filled the beautifully styled boutique with classic, well-made goods by specialty manufacturers like Fog Linen, Hammam, Utility Canvas, Henry Road, and Hable Construction. Baine's love of textiles is evident, but there also is a constantly changing array of unique decorative items, tableware, and gifts. And since even the most modest purchase gets exquisitely wrapped, it's hard to leave empty handed.
