Just a few blocks from Portland's Pearl district is a hidden mid-century gem called Portland Modern...
You walk down the stairs into a basement and can go left or right. Each room is packed (but fantastically displayed) with mid-century modern furnishings. We're pretty sure there's room for a vintage teak desk in everyones heart, and the one above was in flawless condition.
What we appreciated most about Portland Modern was the owner's attention to detail. All of the pieces that were on display were in pristine condition, some of which were the best condition we'd ever seen. Take this vintage Eames chair... perfection! Unfortunately, Portland Modern understands that, so this chair was appropriately priced at $1,000.
In addition to mid-century teak and metal furnishings, Portland Modern also has a great collection of tabletop accessories and wall art. We were thrilled to see this Curtis Jere sculpture.
