Reebie Storage and Moving Co. is a business that we've known of since our first visit to Chicago - we noticed their remarkable Egyptian themed building on Clark street. Here's what AT reader Kristina XI had to say about Reebie: "Reebie's were great, and very professional - we had a very weird move, given than three people were moving out, but into two different places, and the price seemed ok (having grown up in the military, I'm not used to paying for movers, so I don't know how much is normal). Anyway, I am always impressed when guys can load 3 boxes of books on their backs." Magnolia also gave a rave review: "I wholeheartedly second the recommendation for Reebie. I have used them twice and each time they were fast, reliable, polite, dependable, professional, etc. Jackie, the mover coordinator, walks you through (over the phone) room by room to determine how much "stuff" you have. Then she will determine the size of the crew, how long it will take, etc. to determine the most cost effective scenario. In my case, it was slightly more expensive, but would take a shorter period of time to load and unload with a larger crew (4 guys) as opposed to a smaller crew (3 guys) that would take about 1-1 1/2 hours longer. And, on top of that, Jackie reassured me, calling me back from home, the night before my move when I was beginning to have a meltdown about finishing my packing! They were great." They offer both free in-home estimate appointments or same-day personalized quotes by phone (1.800.441.7311) or email. Storage is done via wooden pallets - your goods are loaded into the pallets, and then sealed and stored. Rather than handling goods over and over, they stay packed until reopened at a future date and location. Thanks to KristinaXI and Magnolia for the recommendations. If anyone has any info to add on Reebie (or any other mover you'd like to recommend), please let us know in the comments. Photo: by Bob Thall via Chicago Landmarks
