Rejuvenation started out as an architectural salvage shop back in 1977. When business was slow. the company's founder, Jim Kelly, would rebuild vintage light fixtures out of the materials. Soon these fixtures were more popular that the other salvage items and, before long, Rejuvenation made the transition to the company we know today.
Name/Title: Sarah Hutchinson / Photo Producer / PR and Creative Manager
Open date: Rejuvenation began in 1977 as an architectural salvage shop in a roughhewn Portland, Oregon neighborhood.
Inspiration for opening: Founder Jim Kelly began the business with $1,000 and an eye for discarded architectural treasures. When the salvage trade was slow, Kelly rebuilt vintage light fixtures he found amidst the castoffs. Demand for the fixtures grew until eventually Kelly began manufacturing period-authentic lighting in his Portland factory for customers throughout the United States.
Merchandise source: All our lighting is assembled and finished right here in Portland, Oregon. Beyond that commitment to working with local craftspeople, we try to use as many American-made parts as we can. It’s not always easy to find any American parts, so we’re excited to announce we’ve recently been able to add some American vendors to our list. Most of our shades are American-made by small family-owned glass manufacturers.
Current best selling item: The Hood (first image above)
Favorite item: It's VERY hard to choose. I'd have to say all of our cool light bulbs and the Paisley.
Favorite store, other than your own: I love wandering around Ink and Peat in Portland. And non décor related… AllSaints.
