Sean Scott is a designer who is thinking sustainable and modern. Based in Chicago, his work is both forward-thinking and inspired by great 20th century design.
After seven years as Design Director for Niedermaier, Sean started s2 Design in 2003. He does design and visual display for residential and commercial spaces along with his line of custom furniture and lighting.
His (ova) dining chair (right) is made up of 44 separate flat parts that form the structure when stacked. The inspiration for the piece "was to create an affordable chair that embraced technology, and the ever-present global need for sustainable design & products."
"The efficiency and sustainability stem from the technology of the CNC machining which allows the cutting process to be done in a fraction of the time it would take to do with conventional routers. This also makes more efficient use of the material, by creating less waste and better usage of the sheet goods."
The (f2) Screen shown above is cut from a single sheet of material. Custom sizes and finishes are available.
The (c5) Desk Luminaire is made from thermoformed Corian. It can can be customized to different sizes and dimensions.
