Everyone visits. We did, and although the rumor was that they could often be gruff, we found them helpful and easy going. Recently moved from the East Village to Gramercy, this old school baby mecca wants to sell you the best for less.
With a new website and modern shop, Schneider's stocks a good selection of top notch items from nursery to teen furniture and touts lower prices than the chain stores. And while it used to be the only game in town, with Buy Buy Baby's sprouting like Starbucks, it no longer is.
Schneider's made New York Mag's Best of List in 2003: The 53-year-old family-owned establishment is home to all the au courant brands of strollers, cribs, and the like—Maclaren, Inglesina, Perego—but sells them for 10 percent or more off retail.
GoCityKids calls it "The lower East Side parent's best kept secret." and Citysearch gives it an 7.8 rating (which is a drop from last year).
