Seattle-based Semigood Design aims to "provide a product that is everyday functional, but also heirloom quality, and that spares our environment unnecessary harm." Their furniture collection—which includes bedroom, living room, office, and storage furniture— is made to order and assembled in their Seattle studios. All the wood products are crafted with FSC-certified wood responsibly sourced from forests in the Midwest and Northeast, and finished with low-VOC lacquers and stains.
More about Semigood Design:
We pride ourselves on being a company that manufactures products to be passed down from generation to generation, with solid hardwood construction and mortise and tenon joinery, we can guarantee it. No particle board or paper thin veneers here. Only the sides and backs of some of our larger storage units use A grade plywoods where it is necessary and beneficial to prevent issues of warping, checking and splitting. The hardware in our outdoor pieces are made of either brass or stainless steel, materials that will not deteriorate under prolonged exposure to the elements.
Conservation and recycling are essential to the green cause, but heirloom quality products with multi-generational lifespans are the best way to save resources and reduce environmental footprints. This type of longevity eliminates landfill contribution as well as wasted energy used during recycling. We can't think of anything more sustainable than a beautiful, unique, and structurally strong material crafted into a product sure to stand the test of time.
