Shea Soucie and Martin Horner each studied at the Ecole Speciale d’Architecture in Paris and at the Art Institute of Chicago. After spending several years at large firms they went on to work together to establish the design firm of Soucie Horner.
They work as a true team, with Soucie focusing on the architectural elements and Horner working with the fabrics, furniture and decor. Their portfolio, viewable online, is arranged into several sections, which reflect the breadth of the projects they take on - from city to suburban, vacation homes to commercial properties.
The through line is, of course, their distinctive style, which is a masterful use of neutrals mixed with metallics which produces a glamorous effect in a very subtly retro way. Some staples of the Soucie Horner look: luxurious finishes and fabrics, ultra long ceiling to floor drapes, metallic tables (including a billiard table in a silvery tone!), very dark floors and sculptural pieces as decor.
Their firm is located at 208 West Kinzie, near the Merchandise Mart. Lots more info and photos are available on their website.
