Japanese + Long Island City. Lighting designers are a strange bunch. Obsessive, they find a niche and then try every variation they can possbily imagine. We find this is true of Jonathan Wigmore's lighting. A little boxy for our new decade, but very warm and changeable, we like how far he has pushed his idea from pendants to floor lamps to whole walls.

Our favorite? The straight ahead sconces ($900) and the long thin wall installation ($3,000) .

All of these lights are fabricated from rust-resistant stainless steel and covered with two general types of Japanese paper, one more yellow and the other more white. Wigmore builds these custom and also offers his entire line for sale on his site, where prices run from @ $900-$6,000. Delivery time is 6-8 weeks. (Thanks, JB!) MGR
