As if Brooklyn wasn't cool enough, along comes Spring Design & Art, the brainchild of Anna Consentino and Steve Butcher. Imagine a design shop more approachable than Moss, but just as experimental and at the bleeding edge where art meets design.
Spring is a loftlike shop that transforms into a gallery show space a few times a year with an impressive lineup of talent (a recent show featured Ron Gilad, Miwa Koizumi and Jason Miller among others). The shop features a wide range of smaller stuff from artwork to jewelry to lighting and housewares. There's stuff here that you will love and stuff that won't know what to do with. It's perfect for special housewares, gifts and for just plain idea browsing.
We loved the engravings of manhole covers from around the world, the Sun Jar by Tobias Wong for suckUK, and the hand-tuned sixteen tone HBC baby rattle (we bought one for Ursula). If you're day tripping down to Dumbo, definitely stop in.
