Heywood-Wakefield. Say that name and we immediately think of Springdale. Located in Three Oaks, Michigan; this shop in a converted bowling alley (yes, it's big) specializes in the popular 20th century wooden furniture.

We stumbled into Springdale one summer weekend, in between the beach and a round of mini golf at Uncle Mike's Fun Park.

They are not kidding when they say they specialize - it was an unbelievable collection of restored Heywood-Wakefield furniture. Living room, office, bedroom, dining sets - it's all here. The restoration is impeccable - everything's been cleaned up and is ready to go.

These guys know their stuff when it comes to H-W. Worth a look: Good sections on their site on both the history of and restoration of the Heywood Wakefield pieces.

Springdale also sells other vintage furniture, lighting, ceramics, accessories and art that coordinate nicely with their specialty. The Ashcraft vintage rattan selections (in the Florida room section of the site) were pretty extensive when we visited.
Even though we weren't shopping for H-W, we really enjoyed the stop.

It's a quick education in an iconic American style and the guys running the shop were super friendly and fun to chat with.

Check out Springdale's site for tons of pictures and driving directions.
