Sure, grandmothers make great sweaters, but you'll find a whole lot more than sweaters at this small gem of a store on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. The homemade vibe of this store's name is appropriate though- the toys and gifts are quality-made, unique and selected with love. Granny-Made opened their Manhattan store 20 years ago. What began as a simple catalog of hand-knit sweaters in 1985 evolved into the lovely store it is today. We used to love wandering in here when we lived on the Upper West Side a few years back. The sweaters really are beautiful, but we also like their quilts and a blanket they call "Little Taggies". As their name would suggest, little tags surround the perimeter of these blankets, and babies love to interact with them. Another favorite item of ours is Kubla's "My Quiet Book". Doesn't that just sound great? It's a soft activity book filled with colorful pages for little ones to interact with. Also check out their bestselling infant and toddler gift, ABC Wall Hangings, with 26 embroidered toys representing each letter of the alphabet.
