We talked about new stores that were opening up in the 2nd Street District here in Austin not too long ago, and now we'd like to make good on our promise on showing you one of them: Kirk. While it may not be the deal lover's dream, it'll definitely be heaven for any design lover. Check it out after the jump!
Buying from this store and visiting this store is the ultimate indulgence. Filled with amazing authentic vintage furniture finds and gorgeous yet delightfully quirky contemporary accessories, this is your stop for one-of-a-kind finds for yourself and your home.
To quote the store's owner, Jeff Kirk, Kirk focuses on investment-grade 20th-century furniture, design-driven accessories and contemporary art and photography by emerging artists. By the looks of this gallery on our visit, Kirk is keeping its promises. We saw vintage furniture in the most amazing condition and by names as famous as Frank Lloyd Wright.
As mentioned, Kirk also specializes in pretty quirky accessories. Our favorite: these Park Planters by Tristan Zimmermann, meant to chronicle all the wacky things one might see or run into while taking a stroll in an urban park. The one pictured here depicts a mugging; the most popular one (and the one that sold out the quickest) depicts an activity so risque it can't be mentioned on a respectable blog.
