Texas Ceiling Fans

Store History

  • Founded by: John Andrews
  • Headquarters: Austin, TX

Texas Ceiling Fans is locally owned and operated and celebrating 28 years of business in Austin. TCF prides itself on being a true specialty fan store offering sales, service, and antique ceiling fan repair and restoration. John Andrews, owner of TCF started the business 29 years ago restoring antique ceiling fans and he is one of the most formidable fan experts in the country. We have the largest display of fans in Texas with over a hundred and thirty on display.

Does it sound crazy to say that we're now fascinated by ceiling fans? Visit Texas Ceiling Fans on 6th Street in Austin and you might understand. This is not just a store that sells fans; it is a shrine to cool music and fantastic fans.

When we stopped by Texas Ceiling Fans ("TCF") to comparison shop, we were not anticipating a veritable fan museum hiding in a Victorian house. We were unexpectedly amazed by the beauty and engineering of their antique fans. Many of these fans had intricate hand-tooled iron casings and wood blades with perfect patina. We couldn't help but appreciate the craftsmanship and design of these practical machines.

Serving Austin for over 30 years, Texas Ceiling Fans is owned by John Andrews, an expert and consultant on fan history and design. He is the original owner of TCF and began his business by refurbishing antique fans. TCF continues to restore and replace parts for older original Hunter ceiling fans. At TCF, you can find the highest quality modern fans mixed with lovingly restored antique fans. They boast a collection of rare fans such as a vintage store post fan and a Hunter two blade ceiling fan, which has a twin in the Smithsonian.

The knowledgeable and friendly sales associates (all 3 of them!) will educate you on your new fan purchase and will beat every price in town. Although TCF is a fan specialty store, they offer a wide range of price points so that every shopper can find a reliable fan to fit his budget. TFC is an exclusive dealer for Hunter and Casablanca fans, but they also carry Fanimation and Minka-Aire. We were not only impressed by the service and the atmosphere at Texas Ceiling Fans, but also by the choice of fans on display and in stock. We loved the fact that we could customize fans within a brand by choosing the finish of the blades, the color of the fan body and the style of the light kit.

Although you might expect a fan store to be downright boring, it's not. The store reflects the laid back attitude of it's owner and the town. John is an obvious fan (pardon the pun) of live music and has displayed an assortment of vintage band posters around the store (because Austin is the live music capital of the world, after all). Music appreciation and energy efficiency --- now that's Austin cool.
