Vermont-Made Wooden Bowls from The Bowl Mill

  • Location: Granville, Vermont and online

We worry that the days of artisans creating one simple, yet beautiful and durable product in a process that has been perfected over more than a hundred years — in this case salad bowls turned from single pieces of Vermont wood — may be coming to an end. But, on the other hand, we appreciate these kinds of locally made products as much as we ever have so we can only hope that the traditions will live on.

The Bowl Mill is based in Granville, Vermont where it has been producing bowls from local Green Mountain lumber since 1857. The bowls come in a variety of colors, woods and finishes and the mill also offers a number of salad accessories including salad “hands” for tossing, choppers, wooden pestles, and cutting boards. Tours of the factory are available to visitors and their store sells local Vermont products and antiques along with the bowls, which can also be purchased from the company's website.
