Conveniently located in Penn Quarter, Weschler's holds weekly auctions. The Weschler family has been auctioning and appraising goods in DC for over 120 years. Their specialty areas include furniture, artwork, silver, and books. Auction items vary in quality and type, but on our visits we've noticed mostly traditional furniture and artwork in decent condition. More info and photos below the jump...
Weekly auctions of local household goods and estates are held on Tuesdays with viewings open to the public on Mondays. At least six times a year Weschler's holds 6 catalogue auctions, which feature European & American Furniture and Decorations; Paintings, Prints, Drawings & Sculpture; Jewelry, Coins & Watches; 20th Century Decorative Arts; Asian Works of Art; and Rugs, Carpets & Tapestries.
NPR recently reported on Weschler's in "Auction Business Still Bidding High" (April 12, 2009).
We enjoy droppng in to see what's on the block that week.
