Q: We have a lovely antique oak pedestal table in our tiny dining room. We also have very sturdy oak Windsor chairs. I think all the oak looks a little old fashioned.  Ever since I read the Apartment Therapy article on painting Windsor chairs, I've been flirting with the idea of painting the chairs

However, I'm not sure that we should paint our chairs, and I'm not certain what color we'd paint them. Our dinning room is more of a dinning nook, and it's painted a sunny orange, with crisp white accents. Painting the chairs white would be the solid choice, but part of me is drawn towards a soft blue hue. Blue and orange balance each other out, but I'm worried that would be too much color for so small a room. I'd love to hear some thoughts from others.

Oh, did I mention that my husband is totally against painting the wood chairs? So, I will have to convince him. Right now, I'm just not convinced enough to take on the negotiations. But I'm looking to modernize without getting new furniture.
