Location: Panama City, Florida
I began dreaming of Silas' nursery as soon as we discovered we were having a boy. I envisioned a space that was bright, colorful, playful— but not too themey. I also wanted it to reflect our love of adventure and our desire for Silas to have wonderful adventures of his own.
My husband and I both love traveling— we've backpacked the Grand Canyon together, rode an elephant in Thailand, navigated the streets of Tokyo and ate tapas in Spain. We called Oahu, Hawaii home for three years and surfed and hiked on many of the islands. We love thinking about what Silas' life might be like and the adventurous travels he might have.
The "Wild and Precious Life" print by Katie Daisy sparked my vision for this room. I pulled the bright colors from her print (using predominantly orange and aqua) and threw in some eclectic pieces like an industrial metal "S", wire storage baskets on the wall, a vintage dresser/changing table and a vintage globe that I snagged from my parents' attic.
Since we moved from Hawaii to Florida at the end of my pregnancy, I didn't get to DIY projects like I wanted to. But as an artist, I couldn't finish my son's nursery without painting him something special. I think the Winnie the Pooh quote is so appropriate and I love that it's the first thing you see when you walk in the room.
