No more slamming drawers or lids, soft close products will give you a bit more peace and quiet at home. Our dressers may look handsome and provide all the drawer space we need. But are they pleasantly quiet as we use them? If you live in a household with one or two adults, furniture that can't slam may not seem that big a deal. However, if you're in a household with multiple people that include kids, grandparents and pets, soft close products and furniture are silent gifts from heaven.
Enjoy the silence. Soft close home goods is another layer in functional design. They include features like easy open gliders, dampers for silent closing and modified hinges.

We have had a soft-close toilet lid for several years now. It made such a difference in our house since we close the top lid of the toilet after each use, and that ads up to a lot of slamming!
After having this quiet toilet seat for awhile, you forget that every toilet lid doesn't quietly close with a light tap. It can make for an unpleasant surprise when lightly tapping someone else's toilet lid to close it after use! I have slammed down a few toilet lids very hard because I was on auto-pilot after use, assuming the lid would close quietly! oops!
Most big box hardware stores sell soft close hinges, too. It's a relatively cheap thing to implement.
Just fell in love with the Hendrix Desk while visiting the Crate & Barrel outlet in Illinois last weekend. I just stood there, staring for at least 5 minutes. Its fabulous.
I had no idea what this headline meant, especially because the word "close" can be read two ways. What are these home goods close to? This is a situation where the proper use of a hyphen on a compound adjective would go a long way toward readability.
But if everything in ones home closed quietly how are we to get a little "afternoon delight" without knowing when the kids come home from school slamming the doors?! A quiet fridge door would definitely be a bad idea- how else could I catch my husband sneaking a few spoonfuls out of my ice cream carton?! When I hear the seat & lid slam down on the toilet then I know for sure hubby put them down & I won't fall into the bowl in the middle of the night! Noisy drawers? I can HEAR you rummaging around looking for my candy stash! HA! Gotta be careful what sort of trends we get ourselves caught up in!!!
I'm such a fan of the Stuva collection, if only it wasn't children's furniture! I saw one of the desk combinations online and thought about finding ways to "mature" the pieces a bit, only to realize how short it all is once I was in the store!
The step can would be the perfect discreet trashcan solution for my kitchen, but too expensive! Anyone have any budget friendly suggestions?
