Designed by Mick De Giulio, the 1000 square foot space (on display in NYC's Rockefeller Center) is all about embracing an icy aesthetic with surfaces that are reflective, light and bright. It's a look well suited to kitchens, where the focus on steel and gleaming professional appliances has been a mainstay for a decade now.
The white-gold leaf finish on the subway tiles (by Ann Sacks) is gorgeous and unexpected - the killer touch in a dramatic space, especially in tandem with the bold blue sink (Jonathan Adler for Kohler, which you might remember from our sneak-peek ).

What was the budget?
It's gotta be majorly high on the budget scale. I enjoy the metalic finishes and sparkle going on here, it is something truly unique for a change and I can appreciate that.
Gold leaf tile is beautiful but how realistic is it for those of us who aren't billionaires.
I don't have the complete project budget, but detailed pricing info is included on the original post, linked above. The info includes the Ann Sacks tile (not inexpensive, but an option, even for non-billionaires!)
@Janel, thanks. $100 a sq/ft countertop and $116 a sq/ft tile. Note that this square foot cost is in alignment with the typical showrooms featured on AT - for the ENTIRE space including all materials and furnishings, not just one material.
Yowza! I found the tile and counter for my Dubai pad.
wow so much cooler than the recent riffs on country kitchens - will have mosey down there this week....
It's beautiful (I love metallic and chrome) but keeping it clean would be a nightmare.
I don't mind seeing some expensive design here at AT, and this certainly looks luxurious and glamorous, with tons of well thought out details. Which would be the opposite of utilitarian, organic and simple, a.k.a. what I personally like to see in a kitchen. But then, House Beautiful and I have never really been friends.
where can I get those shelves?
I have gone to Kitchen Heaven...
The design statement here is clearly: In your face, 99%! I've got it and you don't!
So nice to see a really ostentatious display of wealth.
Mmmm. I don't know. There's nothing *not* to like (except for the open shelving, of which I will never be a fan), but I saw kitchens I loved WAY more, in the Small Cool contest.
As Wrenx says, the main design inspiration seems to be 'shiny and expensive'.
That said, the shot of the sink nearly made me weep.
Meh
Sigh...To be kitchen remodel rich....
