Mercury glass is a favorite of ours - it can glam up any room instantly but stays away from being too shiny or glitzy. So we love these Silvershift Lamps from Anthropologie, and have already thought of about a million places in our house they would be perfect.
We think the price is pretty reasonable, especially when you consider how high impact a pair of these would be.
Available at Anthropologie for $128.

i recently discovered home decor by anthropolgie and love it. this is just as lovely!
I too adore mercury glass and was thrilled when Anthro brought out this lamp. It looks great in my entryway.
Be careful about cleaning it, however: the mercury glass effect is merely silver paint on the lamp's underside, and it comes off quite easily in cleaning, as I discovered to my chagrin.
i'm generally a fan of anthrologie, but this lamp just doesn't do it for me. my tastes aren't offended... i'm just incredibly indifferent.
I love the lamp but hate the shade!
maybe that is what it is... with a fun, colorful shade, or even something just plainly classy, i think i'd love the total package... the shade/lamp combo looks... dingy.
Well, is it worth $128 if the paint comes off when you clean it? I do like it, but hate the shade.
The paint is on the underside of the glass base. It doesn't have to be touched -- I was unfortunately careless.
And, fwiw, the shade shown in the picture above doesn't come with the lamp. That combination doesn't interest me either. This is the shade that went home with me, when I bought the lamp in the store: http://tinyurl.com/6x7z7a.
$128 is not a lot of money for a lamp.
no one said it was a lot... it was a question of the quality.
