There are thousands of ways burlap can be used around the house, as table cloths, upholstery, even wallpaper. Burlap is cheap (2 yards for $6.50). It's easy to find at hardware stores, and you can transfer print onto any section to personalize your fabric.
Burlap can also be eco-friendly if you use recycled material. Used bags can be found in your grocery store produce section or try local farmer's markets and feed stores.

Great way to add some warmth and texture! I like the first and last pics especially
I've always loved burlap, muslin, twine, and brown paper bags...just something so pure about them.
Burlap creeps me out. When I look at it I only see something that smells musty and will bleed and stain whatever it's touching.
I used burlap runners and table squares at my wedding. (See below) You can cut along the weave, tease out strands and leave it unhemmed and slightly frayed for an elegant rustic look. Doesn't wash well AT ALL though. You end up with the world largest snarled cat toy.

I think I just like the look of burlap. It feels so older than "old school". That's funny! It has a unique antique look. So unpretentious. It should be used to the event or gathering you are planning for that day only and that's it. It's relatively cheap to purchase. So it could be used for show, not for keep.
I painted mismatched (thrifted) chairs white for our dining table, and reupholstered all the seats with burlap. At first I thought it was a bad idea, as it shed a lot. But too lazy to change them out, 4 years later they still look great and have stopped shedding - they have that nice smooth patina that old burlap gets.
I wonder if there is a way to age new burlap? I can't imagine wanting a pillow made from fresh new stiff scratchy burlap on my sofa!
I love the way this looks.... Burlap isn't exactly the softest thing to lean on at a table, but it looks amazing!

Yesterday I had 14 yards of white burlap delivered, with which to make curtains for my living room. I bought it primarily because it was cheap and also because I like the casual look of burlap. The shedding is tolerable so far.
All burlap is not made of the same material. The cheap kind is usually jute, and has that scratchy feel. Some people dislike the smell. Linen burlap, which is significantly more expensive, feels nothing like it. It feels like something you would actually want to make a pillow out of. If you go to a fabric store like Joann's, you can find linen burlap in the section for base fabrics for embroidery and rug hooking.
restoration hardware has chairs in burlap. i'm still undecided about them. They have pillows as well.
I prefer duck, a lightweight cotton canvas that is similar in appearance to burlap but gets softer with laundering and sheds less.
I love the burlap tablecloth from Wisteria. It looks great on a round table.
I love the burlap tablecloth it would be brilliant outside
