We've had piñatas on the brain lately (remember this one with a pull string for easy opening?); there's just something about the Spring and outdoor parties that gets us all googly-eyed for them! Sometimes they can seem a little tricky (like when your 6-year-old requests one in the shape of Spiderman), but this adorable version doesn't require an anatomy class to figure out.
This piñata is made like most others, but when it comes to the exterior, thin strips of tissue paper are wrapped around in circles. Small bees are attached and the look is complete. What? You don't know how to make a bee? Check out the tutorial onCountry Living; it's as easy as pipe cleaners and pom poms — promise!
This idea would work nicely for a Pooh themed party, a yellow party or even one celebrating the outdoors.

That is a terrific idea - so cute!
LOVE THIS! It makes me happy just looking at it!
that is not the shape of a beehive. That is more the shape of a wasps nest. Cute but WRONG
very cute. -@mattf-Do you think the kids who are about to beat the crap out of this care what shape it is?
I love it! And it would be a sweet way to personalize a bubble lamp, too.
This pinata is shaped like a wasp nest, not a bee hive. Which isn't a big deal to most people, but as a beekeeper, it is kind of irritating. Even in 'educational' kids' books, authors (who have presumably done some research) often get it wrong. And... the idea of beating something that looks like a wasp nest with a stick just makes my skin crawl in instinctive horror.
