Finger painting is one of the classic rituals of childhood. But if you are like me, the mess may send you into a tizzy. That's why I love this idea to clean the process up a bit without sacrificing any of the fun.
Instead of gooping tons of paint onto a paper, you douse a sponge with finger paint and then let your kids press their fingers in it. You'll get good, nay, perhaps better, results than slops and gobs of paint on the paper. And it's all much easier to clean up.
Instructions on Baballa are in Spanish, but the photos are excellent so you can follow along without any written directions.

"Clean" it may be, but it doesn't offer the tactile pleasure of oozing paint. That's most of the fun right there.
I think the whole point is to have enough paint to swish and swirl around. Otherwise, you might as well just use a paintbrush .
If cleaning up finger paint sends you into a 'tizzy', probably best not to do it at all.
it is amazing, so it is Lucia Baballa!!!! Congratulations Lucia!!!! and thanks to apartment therapy for always showing us the best things around!
As a teacher who is currently taking a class about how to do art with kids, I think this erases the point of finger painting. For kids that age painting is about exploring the texture of the painting, mixing the colors together and seeing how their body movements make different lines and shapes on the paper. This method imposes very adult ideas about not mixing colors and not exploring the material.
