As we mentioned on friday, using what you already have is a great way to stay green. One way to revamp what it is you've been looking at for a while is to rearrange your furniture. We tend to rearrange every couple of months (we can't help it) and it generally infuses us with new energy and excitement for hosting, relaxing and just being at home.
We make sure to put felt under each leg of the furniture which helps to glide it across the floor (not as easy if you've got carpet) and we normally have some kind of a gameplan, but sometimes we just get the urge and start pushing pieces around.
Recently in our studio, we swapped the area we'd been using as an office and made it a living room. Now our desk is a dining room table (with a laptop on it). We have a different view from the computer now, it freed up space around the kitchen and feel more motivated to keep the place clean and consequently can't wait to invite people over.
In related news, now we're attacking the overgrown garden that the cats have been using for their, uh, business. Wish us luck!

Shaw's Original Fir...
your place is nice. we have alot of similar things..
Where can I get those bookshelves? Or similar ones?
isn't that bookshelf expedit frm ikea?
That area rug looks super cozy. Where did you get it?
I think it is from Ikea...I've been looking at it online but I don't have an Ikea near me so I was hoping I could find something similar somewhere else....so far no luck. :-\
I have a rug like that only much smaller. I've never figured out how to clean it. It tends to attract bits and pieces that can only be picked out one by one.
I missed that other post, but since you brought it up again... I bought a solid oak dresser for $100 about 25 years ago. My dad helped me bring it home, and he thought I was crazy to pay so much. But I've used it ever since, as my dresser, our son's dresser, and most recently as our landing strip/storage in our front hall. Rearranging your furniture absolutely breathes life into your home.
Is that your living room, Laure? What a luxury to have all that open space to show off your lovely rug!
Where is that sofa from? I'm looking for something along those lines for a place I'm doing. Thanks so much!
