This one definitely falls under the category of too much information, but it's a green tip that we learned when we were growing up in drought-prone Southern California before the advent of low flow toilets: [image from Pinky Flickr] Yes, maybe you've heard it (maybe you're family said it too?): When it's yellow, let it mellow, when it's brown flush it down. We won't go into the details, we think you get it. Back in the day it saved gallons and gallons of water since we didn't flush every time. With today's low flo toilets it doesn't save as much, but we're still in the practice of...mellowing. This is also why we are vigilant about keeping the lid down, because miss kitty likes to get in there for a drink and we just can't even think about it. Also, we totally let go of this rule when there's company! We also apologize if we just totally grossed you out.
