Simple Hair Cleanse: Apple Cider Vinegar

Since cutting back on purchasing more commercial shampoos, my most successful homemade solution has been an apple cider vinegar rinse.

It makes my hair so shiny and soft! After doing a bit of research, I learned that hair is on the mildly acidic side of the pH scale and has an ideal pH of 4.5-5.5, which is close to that of an apple cider vinegar rinse (pH 2.9). Many of the more traditional shampoos we use are more strongly alkaline - and rinsing with apple cider helps balance the pH of your hair!

All you have to do is mix 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar with 1 quart water. Pour this mixture on your head after shampooing, and let it sit for a few minutes. Rinse it off after a few minutes, and your hair will be silky and smooth. Next step: Time to learn how to make home-made apple cider!
