Kids love to "help" with things adults do and even though it may take you twice as long to cook, it's fun and gratifying to let kids be your sous chef in the kitchen. But where do you start with really young kids? Heather of The Coterie Blog has a few simple suggestions:
Start, she recommends, with just letting them hand you the ingredients. It makes them feel useful and, except maybe for eggs, is low risk for accidents. On a recent afternoon she and her young son Cole made a batch of cookies and she found ways at almost every turn to let him help (or at least think he was helping).
