And, yet, in the midst of all of these stunning points is a simple idea that I (and you!) can have in my living room of today.
Amy took Ikea's Maskros chandelier, a large, light and airy paper chandelier globe, and spray painted it gold. The buoyant result holds its own in the large space without competing with the other elements in the room, finishing it off beautifully. Don't you agree?

Thinking of trying it yourself?
- Pick a well-ventilated area.
- Newspaper the area you'll be spraying.
- Use a back and forth motion for even coverage.
- Not a fan of gold? Silver, black and red are neutrals that play well with others.

White Enamel Flatwa...
brilliant!
I have been waiting to do this DIY in white.. but this is just genius!
Definitely looks more upscale than the plain white. Though I like this black and gold one better.
wow! I thought that was a beautiful fixture when I saw it, and thought that it must be some famous expensive design that Ikea knocked off. I had no idea it was paper!
Nifty fixture and versatile, too!
Is it paper or is it Tyvek? And why is it that design snobs frown on IKEA as a source of original designs? Just because it's from the blue and yellow store doesn't mean that it's a "knockoff."
love the modern furnishings and paired with the "modern" light fixture is like icing on the cake...
love the look..

I love this idea & want to try it too!! My only concern is, would the paint would make this flammable??
Oh my gosh that is genius. Definitely something to think about now...
At first the title of the post made me think that we were turning a world globe into a gold pendant. (dur)
But now I have a better idea what I'll use my Ikea gift card for! Wow!
Vavavavoum!
any suggestions on which gold spray paint to use? I would love to have the exact same results after I'm finished with the project. thanks.
