Simplicity + Luxury in the Bathroom

Simplicity + Luxury in the Bathroom

The word luxury is being redefined. Okay, maybe it's not a complete redefinition, but more of a gentle adjustment. Since the economy started to slump, lux is no longer associated so closely with big bling—now, it's more likely to refer to small, high-quality details. In the bathroom, this might mean soft Egyptian cotton towels or a refinished antique tub.

We pulled together the photos above for our own inspiration file. To us, they all speak to simplicity and luxury that feels long lasting. Details we love include the use of chairs (upholstered or carved wood) in the bathroom, richly colored tile, soft towels (luxuriously stacked or rolled together in a big, wooden bowl), and beautiful accent pieces like ceramic stools, glass vases, or a stylish side table.
