Giving over some responsibility to your children can be a tricky transition. On one hand, you want to empower them, but on the other, they need some guidance. A handy chore chart can be just the thing—and we love the design of the Ready, Set, Go! Board.
This task manager for kids has a list of common to dos, like brushing teeth, gathering books and backpacks, and making the bed. Each job has a magnet that your child can slide over to indicate it's complete. Framed in classic white, the board has hooks to hang on the wall, or you can set it on a shelf. Since it's only 10" x 12", it can blend easily into most rooms' decor.
Available for $38.00 at Telly Chicago.

Sheex Bedding
This is strange, it doesn't seem like it would simplify anything. It just adds in an additional thing that your kid needs to do each morning (thereby drawing out the getting ready process).
This might not work for all kids (yes, in theory it's one more thing to do) but I can see this working for my 5-yr-old girl. I've been trying in the morning and at bedtime to just go through the list of things to do once an not nag her over and over. I think the visual cues would help and she would love checking each task off.
My son would love this! He was totally motivated by the pictures I made for him to help him get out the door on school days in the fall. He's all about racing, so this would definitely motivate him too.
BTW, I wouldn't actually spend $38 on this; I think I could just make my own version.
