A friend looking for an eco-friendly carpet option recently asked us about these shag rugs from JCPenney's Simply Green Collection. Though we haven't been able to see them in person, we are impressed by the colors and the price...
Ranging from $25 for the 2'x3'4" size to $170 for the 8'x10' size, these natural-toned carpets are ideally priced for buyers on a budget. Made of 100% recycled polyester, each 5x8 rug keeps 200 plastic bottles out of landfills.
The carpets are made in the USA and feature Sussen heat-set construction and 1-3/8" pile height. The smaller sizes are washable, though JCPenney recommends professional cleaning.
Have any of our readers had experience with these Simply Green shag rugs? If so, we would love to gather any recommendations or warnings to share with our readers...

Oh I just found my new bedroom rug!
I like the color options!
I love the price and the colors and the green-ness. I only wonder how they feel and how they hold up.
I bought one as an experiment/bedroom rug and can report back with my initial impressions if anyone cares! It gets here tomorrow.
Yes, please update with feedback when you get this rug! I'm seriously considering it--but for a high-traffic living room w/2 kids and 3 dogs. I'd love to know if you think it would hold up once you see it IRL.
OK, this is a little late since I realized duh, I needed a pad for under it and I had to order that before I put it down.
I honestly don't know how it will stand up to a lot of wear and tear (I guess that will remain to be seen) but so far, I like it okay.
Good: The twist/shag is not looped (we have a cat so I am glad about that, even though he doesn't usually scratch on carpet), it seems fairly well-made, the color was close to the online color, it uncurled and relaxed quickly, and it hasn't been shedding.
Bad: It's not the softest thing to touch (although to my feet it feels fine), and I did see a few blackish plasticy bits near the edge.
Overall, for the cost especially, it seems decent to me. I will know in a few months if it will hold up.
Randomly: it comes from the same place in GA that is home to Flor and all the other carpet tile manufacturers.
