Name: Simran
Location: Hollywood, Los Angeles, California
I rent an adorable 450 sq. ft. cottage in Hollywood that was built in 1919. I have decorated it with many estate and garage sale finds that accent some of the great original features such as the painted kitchen cabinets. I tend to buy whatever I like at these sales, so my style can only be described as eclectic.
Some of my favorite pieces are the Bertoia chair, the succulent prints I have framed in my bedroom, the giant bronze shell, and the El Casco 24 K gold pencil sharpener (picked up for $10!).
The main challenge of the space is its size, but I have found that there is enough space if everything is kept "ship-shape." I created a home office from the tiny (4' x 5') breakfast nook using an Ikea table and jury rigged Container Store shelving. It actually functions quite well! The kitchen cabinet is almost overflowing with my cake plate collection, but I love that I can see everything in one place.
Thanks, Simran!

Love the vintage eclectic feel! House tour please!
Very cute. :-)
It's hard to get a feel of this space but really like what I see. Your kitchen cabinet with your cake plate collection is very sweet.
Like to see how you set up your sleeping quarters as well as a peek to the bathroom.
Sweet little place!
charming from the peeks we are given!
Simram's use of the term "jury rigged" sent me to my favorite word origin sites, where I learned that "jury rigged" and "jerry built" are two different terms that are often mixed up. Check it out for yourself -- an interesting and useful pair of terms for DIY-ers and improvisers, and entertaining word history, besides!
Rapunzel, I asked myself whether it was 'jury rigged' or 'jerry rigged', but decided the former made more sense!
Why a pic of what is in your hutch and your monitor ?? A few steps back would of shown the space which is what we want to see
Thank you for all of the comments! I have posted more photos of the space here: http://www.simrandesign.com/p/hudson-ave.html
