Sing a Song: Song Lyrics in Kids Decor

We've asked before how you feel about using song lyrics as a design element in a home, but we haven't specifically addressed using them for a child's room. Quotation art and decor is popular these days, so using song lyrics seems like a natural fit. I've rounded up a few ideas from some Etsy shops to explore what we might do with lyrics in a kid's space.

There are lots of different genres of music that would make fun children's decor. Nursery rhymes and songs can be cute (think "Itsy Bitsy Spider"), or even traditional songs that are often sung to children ("You Are My Sunshine" seems to be a favorite for decor). But even show tunes (like "A Bushel and a Peck") or contemporary music (The Lumineers' "Ho Hey") have sweet lyrics that make for meaningful design elements. Of course, classic rock is exceedingly popular; just look at the samples below for some lines from the Beatles, Bob Dylan, and Fleetwood Mac.

Once you've chosen your lyrics, you need to decide how to incorporate them. There are plenty of tutorials online for making subway-style wall decor with words from songs, but there are other options, too. Check out the gallery to see how dressers, bookshelves, and pillows could be media for expressing these musical sentiments.
