Still undecided between a sitting desk or a standing desk? We've mentioned the pros and cons of standing in front of a computer all day, but now you can have the best of both workspaces with the XTable from Danish design studio KiBiSi.
If you can turn a hand crank, you can use the XTable. Based on the mechanical workings of well-known tools like car jacks and ironing boards, the XTable features an elegant X-base that can be raised or lowered by a simple crank. It looks easy enough to switch up your stance midday as needed, and I like the idea that a single desk can accommodate users of different heights.
No pricing information is available, but inquiries can be made to the Holmris showroom.

Now this I could use.
Such simple, clean lines and easy functionality. I want one.
I've been using an Ikea Fredrik desk, but I must say that this one looks nice nicer. You will want the viewing monitor to be about head height for ergonomic reasons, which would require an additional stand for this desk though. I've also noticed that if I had a chair in the room (a crutch, if you will) I tended to use it. It wasn't until I had no other option did I start to use and get used a standing / treadmill desk full time. I feel that the crank down ability might be hard to indulge in. I have all my experiences documented on my blog here if anyone is interested in how to transition from a standing desk to a treadmill desk: www.treadmilldeskdiary.com
Room and Board opened up recently in Seattle and I went in to check it out. They have the most amazing metal and wood setups for their computer stations and according to the woman who helped me they are going to make them available for sale. It has separate height adjustable surfaces for monitor, keyboard, printer and laptop/speakers. There's a storage drawer beneath the keyboard surface which is large enough to have a tablet next to the keyboard. There's also a file type storage beneath the printer stand. It can be adjusted for standing or sitting. She quoted a price that was over 2k so it is pretty expensive but it was lovely.
