Taylor Murphy and his wife Alisha gave us a look into their gorgeous Austin rental home (that they share with one cute cat) with their house tour. Taylor’s an interior designer, and he calls his style “lived-in contemporary;” it’s casual and dramatic and bold and relaxing, all at once.

Alisha is a first grade teacher by day and a marriage and family therapist masters student by night, and not too shabby in the style department as well. As Taylor writes: “She is amazing and pretty much works all the time” He also says, “I think our space is definitely a combination of our styles. We both love color and playful accents. I think she really warms up the space. If I was by myself I think the space would feel a bit colder. I tend to lean a bit more contemporary and she likes a little more detail in various pieces. I think the combination makes for an interesting space, a little crazy, but interesting. I’ll ask her opinion on different things for clients because she has a good eye, and it’s always good to get a second opinion from someone you trust design wise.”

Taylor has the ability to use bold colors and imaginative decor, and below he shows six different ways you can style the same sofa. But it’s not just random mixes; each of his sofa looks below have one big trait that ties the look together. Even if the combos below don’t fit your look, pay attention to the theme that each look was inspired by; you could use this for inspiration in your own sofa styling.
