We've used AVON's Skin So Soft forever to remove sticky residue from windows and automobile finishes. There's a giant bottle of it in the basement with our other cleaning supplies.
More recently we've realized it's really useful for removing labels from plastic and glass containers, too. Seems we're not the only ones putting "SSS" to unexpected uses, either. We've heard of others using this stuff to clean their car tires and repel insects. Any other uses we're missing out on? Please share in the comments below.

After you clean your tile in the bathroom, wipe down with some on a cotton cloth and it spiffs up the tile, gives it some shine and protects the grout. If you wipe it on the shower walls and doors this will help keep the hardwater stains from sticking to the walls. Makes it easier to clean on cleaning day.
It's known for being a deterrent to Lyme disease ticks.
this has looooong been a southern best-kept secret for repelling insects. it was even on my girl scout camp packing list in place of insect repellent 15 years ago! it really works, and smells nice, too.
down south it's used as a mosquito repellent.....

It's not a southern thing. Growing up in northern British Columbia we used it as bug spray.
Ha! I always thought it WAS an insect repellent. You mean it's actually sold as something else?
It is a great mosquito repellent, as well as soothing the bites that have already occurred, especially for those allergic to mosquito bites.
one of my mom's friends swears that SSS keeps fleas off his dogs. I'm a bit wary of using it, but it's worth a look into

We own an Equestrian centre and dilute the SSS with some water and spray it on the horses before taking them outside or before a show. It repels the insects like flies so not to interfer with the horses' performance. We also benefit from the baby powder-like scent on the horse rather than the typical horse smell of manure and stables.
We have a friend who also uses it on her dog.

Home Body - SSS itself isn't labelless - it is just really effective in removing labels from glass and plastic bottles, jars, etc.
Please be wary of removing labels if you have small children. When you are calling poison control because your 3 year old just downed half a bottle of eye makeup remover (or whatever), you will want to have the label. Food for thought.

in texas we all use it as mosquito repellent. It really works! I spritz some in my hand and massage it on my dogs fur to keep the bugs away from him too.
