Skylight Shades in a Rental?

Good Questions

Q: Hello! Initially one of the selling points of our new apartment was the big skylights in the living room — so much light! But now they're getting to be a frustration since they really heat up the room and I'm also worried about sun damage to the furniture (and to us).

I know Apartment Therapy has posted about installing skylight curtains before but, since it's a rental, I'm looking for something easy and not permanent. There's also a fan below the skylights. It's hard to take a good photo since the light casts shadows. It's more dramatic in the photo than in real life. Thanks!!!
