As soon as we were introduced to Skype we were immediately hooked. We've shared that Skype is the tech that has most changed our lives and we weren't kidding. It's a great piece of technology that brings people together.
Skype released a new update earlier this week for iOS devices that will allow you to take that Skype video call to your tv! The h.264 update is compatible with certain tv's that are already on the market. Apparently LG, Panasonic (the G20 & G25 Series) and Samsung (the C7000 & C8000 series) have HDTV's available that are compatible with this update. Word on the street is that Sony and Vizio are well on their way to joining the compatible group.
What sets Skype on the tv apart from other video conferencing programs? Well, the fact that Skype has the ability to call mobile devices. Say you're eight months pregnant, on couch rest and just sent your hubby out to get you a burger — you won't have to leave the couch to ask him to pick you up some pickle ice cream! Plus, you'll be able to see which brand he's picking up so you get exactly what you want.
We're really excited for this and really think it's going to be a big hit. Skype was a huge hit when it initially came out and when it came to the iPhone it was an even bigger hit. Soldiers, those in long distant relationships and families spread out all over the world can now feel like they're actually sharing time with Skype for tv.
