After transitioning Sky to a twin bed earlier this year, his room called for a facelift on a budget - something less "baby" and more "boy".
His room is comfortable, gender neutral, and a mix of old and new. My favorite thing about this room is that we can rest in bed together and read stories before bed...something that was not possible when he was still in a crib. Many of the items were purchased new or gently used on eBay, Etsy, or antique shops for a homey/lived in feel.

Hooray for the Jenny Lind bed in a boy's bedroom! Love it!!! This is a great room.
Adorable -- a great mix of style plus practicality for a kid's room.
I love the quilts, the colors and the simple eclectic vibe... This room feels like a real kid lives here, not a dream kid from a catalog.
what color is the paint? I'm having my daughter's room painted now and it came out this electric yellow (it actually hurt my eyes when I went in the room!). So we're trying to figure out a way to soften it up and I love the hue you have...
Love it. It's colourful but still peaceful and warm. It's great to see a kid's room that isn't all neutral colours and grey chevron so that they can 'grow into it'. This looks like a room that will nurture a little boy's imagination.
Love the room - all the books look like they are easy to reach and it feels very cozy.
Our son also has a yellow room and a twin spindle bed (which we have toyed painting red). We chose the twin when he was 2 years old rather than a toddler bed. It is a great place to curl up together each night for bedtime stories - he'll turn 5 in a few weeks and we still read together every night!!

Regarding the paint, it is Valspar "Sunwashed" from their earth elements line (I think I got it at Lowe's if you have those in your area). The bed was a craigslist score that we re-finished and painted. I'm so happy I found it!
