We were flipping through one of the slew of catalogs we seem to be getting daily and discovered this chair new from West Elm. With a couple of soft cushions, it seems like a modern, affordable option for a nursing chair.
At first glance, it's hard to tell just how comfortable this would be for nursing; we're curious if the arms are at the right height. But it is marketed as "designed for comfort" in general. As always, you just have to sit in a chair like this before you can tell, but overall, looks like a nice option. Find it here.

My one piece of advice about a nursing chair is that it have a high back so your head has a place to rest. You'll be in the chair at all hours and sometimes it is nice to close your eyes and put your head back.
i don't need a nursing chair but i'm currently thinking that i do need that rocker.
affordable? i would call that a splurge...
I kind of agree with ambergray. At $349 it's not exactly a steal. Though compared to a good quality (and inevitably heinous-looking) glider, it's quite a bit cheaper.
I got a Modernica-made Eames rocker for my nursery. It wasn't too far off in price to the West Elm chair, but it will hold its value better. I used a nursing pillow and a footrest when I nursed my daughter. And although the Eames rocker is actually quite comfortable, I agree with PNWGal, it would've been nice to be able to rest my head. Though I had a hard time feeding, and would often be leaned over my daughter trying and retrying to get things right. So my poor posture might not have been entirely the chair's fault!
For a nursing chair you definitely need a high back to rest your weary head. I too have the Eames rocker. It looks lovely but it wasn't at all comfortable for nursing. The West Elm rocker seems to have the same problem the Eames rocker has for nursing, low back and armrests that aren't wide enough apart to fit a "bumbo" or similar to help weary arms.
This would be a nice rocker for grandparents to buy for a guest room. When visiting someone, I sorely miss a rocking chair to use at night time. This is functional, stylish and doesn't scream BABY CHAIR like a glider does.
I tried it out the store. It looks great in person but maybe not so comfortable for more than 5 minutes. It was a little hard to get out of too.
