Night lights are pretty standard fare for a kid's room, and there are plenty of both DIY and purchasable ones out there. DIYing allows you to customize to your decor, and I love how truly personal this night light is with a meaningful photo as the cover.

Choosing your photo may be the hardest part of this project. If your child can see the light directly from bed, you may want to choose something that will soothe them at night—a family portrait, or a photo from a fun family vacation. You could even choose a picture of a beloved toy, or a family pet.

I love the black and white printing in this sample project, but you could also print in color. Printing on the cotton muslin creates a vintage, soft feel, so even using colors, you get a more subtle effect.
