I've seen lots of pieces about under bed storage recently. A few years ago we invested in a queen size with four large drawers under ... storage heaven. Until we went to sleep. Every time we turned over the noise of the drawers woke us up. In the end we took out the drawers used the space for bags and boxes of stored items and we converted the drawers to shelf units in garage. Test the bed before you buy.

For all those people who need a bed with storage, I ordered and recently received the most beautiful queen platform bed, the knickerbocker, at www.wonknyc.com which is a great store in williamsburg. Gorgeous and very high quality. I got natural walnut with walnut drawers and without the headboard because I'm ordering an upholstered one. It's beautiful.

I think anything made out of that chocolate Franken-wood is pretty nasty, especially once the finish starts wearing away. It looks so much better in the catalog than it does in reality.

Ugh, I had a bed exactly like that CB2 one. Except it didn't cost me $700! dollars.
I bought it from a friend of mine for $100. She and her father made it together. It was the greatest bed I've ever had the pleasure of owning.

She and her father apparently don't price their craftsmanship too high, huh?

I built almost the exact same bed, based on an Italian one I saw, and I think it was about $200 in materials. I also made it in two parts, for ease of moving, that snap together. I do love the look of it with all your books stacked underneath.

I bought this bed a few months ago and absolutely hated it. The mattress sits very high and unless you use hospital corners making the bed, it always looks sloppy.

I have a very small bedroom (alcove) and needed under-bed storage badly. In the last two years, I've owned this bed, the mandal, and an old platform bed inherited from my parents that had sliding doors instead of drawers. None of them worked in my space. Last week, I bought the Ramberg bed from IKEA, the Lillaker slats, and eight of the big Kasset boxes. Under $250, tons of storage, and it looks great with the rest of my stuff.
