The Sliding Sofa has been part of the DWR lineup for as long as I can remember — I'm fairly certain it was in their first catalog (before they had an online presence!). The design is very straightforward and utilitarian — which translates to a sleeper where the transition process is intuitive.
The foam is dense enough to be comfortable and hold up to use as both a sofa AND a bed — important for a sleeper! The Sliding Sofa seems an excellent "sleeper" candidate (ha!) for someone looking for a sofa that they will use just as frequently as a bed.
PROS intuitive transition process, minimal and basic, slipcovers
CONS limited colors (3), really expensive for such a basic design

I gotta be honest, I think that sofa is pretty ugly. Maybe if the hardware was hidden and the back wasn't just a single, unformed wall. But to each his or her own, I guess.
I have a friend who has one, and it works pretty well as a bed, but she never thought it was all that great as a sofa.
we have the sofa in red. 3+ years. design is great to look at. to seat for a long time - not so great. as a bed for overnight gests works very very well
Personally I feel like its pretty pricey for a glorified cot!
I thought it was discontinued? I slept on it at a friend's house. It was very comfortable. Unfortunately, their cat has done some major restyling of it!

That's alotta nights at the Hilton.
A sofa without armrests is not comfortable to me.
The legs of the the DWR sofa remind me of a craftmatic adjustable bed.
