I haven't looked at the LH link, but based on the icons... I agree that Adium and VLC are required downloads. Adium is enough to keep me a mac user (whilst Picasa is enough to keep me as a PC user).
I tried iSquint at first and had a few problems getting started. Instant Handbrake was a breeze and I've added many movies to my ipod that way.

It gives you a LOT more options and actually explains wtf you'll need for a specific need, ie "trying to convert x file to x format" or "needing to do x for x".
