Man, I miss the sixties -- we really believed all those futuristic things would come to fruition back then! (ok, ok -- so I was a totally naive toddler awestruck by these images and memories of the 64-65 World's Fair) For the life of me I will never understand when and how we made a 180 degree turn and started settling for McMansions -- ugh! Every now and then I pick up a copy of Sunset magazine to see their picks for new homes -- at least in the West, there are still individuals willing to try new forms of architecture for living. The rest of the country is content to quake with fear in the illusory security of their vinyl-sided doll houses!

I really like that 60s living room. Growing up in the 60s I tend to look back on it as "yuck, been there, hated that". But the photo above appeals to me for the bench, the rock garden, the low furniture, the architecture. I never thought I'd like my parents living room all over again. Neato keen, man!

My local Hold Everything store, which is sadly going out of business, has some of that Aster dishware. Salad plates are $1.99 and mugs are $2.99, minus an additional 25% off. I bought a small set for the office--nice stuff.
