We just got our Starter Set from gDiapers yesterday. We're really looking forward to using them...as soon as our kid is born in December/January.

Sweet idea and I LOVE the board - but what happens when you "king" someone?!

We liked gDiapers when our daughter was a newborn. Once she went up to the medium size, they were not so easy to flush and we started looking for better solution. I wanted to use cloth, but it just seemed impossible without a washing machine. So since this is green month, I am going to put in yet another plug for elimination communication. People often think in terms of cloth vs. disposable, but there is another option. Practicing EC allowed us to switch to all cloth diapers/training pants, even in our washerless state. I can't see any greener options.

Love gDiapers! I haven't had any problems flushing the med/large. You just need to break them up with the stick a bit more. My son outgrew the small ones so fast that I was stuck with three bags of small liners but gDiapers let me exchange them for the next size. They have the world's best customer service! I was completely impressed.

lb, how EC works with the preverbal children?

lb, just read stuff on EC. EC is a great solution for someone who doesn't work. I think you need to write a piece on this topic. I am interested in how this works in an Industrialized nation.

I'm not sure I understand why people who are squeamish about cloth think gDiapers is a better option. Don't you have to rip apart the wet/dirty liners? Is it because of the laundry thing? (I'm not being snide, just seriously asking...) I can see these as a good option for travelling.

As far as EC, I understand it's NOT impossible for parents who work outside the home to practice it. You just do what you can when you're with your baby (You could also find an EC-friendly babysitter or nanny...) We're going to give it a try with our baby, when he gets here in November...

Yeah, I think one of the biggest misconceptions about EC is that it is something for stay-at-homers who STAY AT HOME so the baby can be naked and pee all the time. It's absolutely not all-or-nothing. I work at home mostly, but when our daughter is with a babysitter, we put her in diapers and tell the sitter that they can take her to the potty if they want or if they feel like she needs to go, but it's no big deal. You can do it just in the evenings, just on the weekends, whatever works for you.

What the hell is EC?

Also, not to be annoying and nitpicky (although I'm going to go ahead and be just that) pebbles aren't very green, unless they're fake - they have to dredge riverbeds or something to get those don't they? Pretty though.
