A while back, we posted a link to an excellent tutorial from JCaroline on how to recover the ever-popular Poang chair. For the non-sewing-inclined, JCaroline is back, this time with ready-to-buy slipcovers in your choice of 24 fabrics.
The slipcovers come with or without foam inserts, depending on what state your originals are in. Each cushion features velcro to attach to the chair, plus two zipper openings to remove the foam cushions for washing.
$45 for child-size Poang slipcover and foam inserts. Adult-size slipcovers are $75 (covers only) and $95 (with foam inserts) at JCaroline Home. Ottoman covers are $35.
(Note that the sewing tutorial at the top of this post is for the kid-size Poang, though it can be adjusted for the adult size.)

75 dollars is more than what i paid for my actual chair!
yeah but BuddhaBellysMum, the back of the kids chair is REALLY uggo. Kind of a tan colored, plastic burlap. The natural canvas (the only color it comes in) gets dirty in about 3 seconds. I agree $75 is pricey, but there is a tutorial to DIY as well.
Does seem steep when compared to the cost of the chair. That said, it does customize a very common piece of furniture. It’s hard to argue the comfort and durability of the Poang.
For a slipcover in any of those fabrics, $75 is a great price. So what if the original chair was low in price? I'm sure if this person could make them in the same volume as IKEA does for their chair, she could charge less.
And by the way, IKEA's price on the cushion and print cover alone (no frame) is $69, so $90 for cushion and cover isn't that much more.
I have no connection to this person at all but I do think she has a great idea here and I love the fabrics. I can sew and was just looking at my grandson's little Poang the other day and thinking it needs a more interesting cover.
(The canvas ones look much nicer after laundering, by the way---just be sure to line dry them as the heat of the dryer will shrink the fabric.)

Am I the only one who paid over $300 for my Poang Ottoman? $75 for a cover seems reasonable to me.
I meant $300 for poang plus cushions plus ottoman, not just the ottoman..
Honeyhaze, is your Poang leather? I think the leather sets may have been that high at one point.
And FYI, the child's child's Poang Chair (including the cover for that ugly thing on the back) is only $45.
Spanky is correct. We aren't buying the fabrics in the same volume as Ikea and aren't making the same quantities. So the plain Ikea cover is by far your most budget-conscious option. Though I wanted to provide some fun fresh fabrics for those that weren't happy with the choices at Ikea and still keep it at a reasonable price point. (So we won't ever offer a plain beige option- Ikea has that covered!)
Though I am still pretty proud of the price points on jcarolinehome.com. Combined with the value of Ikea furniture, I think you can get some great looking pieces that compare very favorably to other home decor options.
