This past weekend I moved into my new home in a new city, and, you know, tropical storm aside, everything went well. Once the weather cleared on Sunday, I made the happy discovery that the neighbors are very friendly and that they've made a pastime of hanging out on their stoops.
Once my fiancé and I had made progress unpacking and had completed our first trip to Home Depot, we followed suit and spent 15 or 20 minutes on our stoop. In addition to enjoying the surprisingly nice weather, we chatted with three very welcoming neighbors, including one who mentioned he wished we had made it to the summer block party. Apart from a general good feeling, our conversations gave us helpful advice on good stores, drywall experts, and reliable cleaning services.
