Yes, small bathrooms can be difficult. They present storage challenges, layout conundrums and decorating dilemmas. They’re also notoriously hard to photograph, which can make it difficult to find images for inspiration.
In this post, I’ve pulled together a group of photographs that I think best represent the reality and potential of small bathrooms. Each embraces its smallness in a different manner. Some are elegant, some are modern, some are colorful and some are quirky. Yet each attempts to address the challenges of a small space – using color, materials and creativity.

I just did new construction and made a tiny bathroom with a shower only. I just decided I preferred more living and bedroom space rather than having a big, luxurious bathroom that my boyfriend and I only spend about 1/2 a day in. I'd much rather jump in the ocean than lie around in a bathtub at home.
Tried to be efficient with the space, use good materials and unique items in the decor.

sorry, I don't know why the heck my comment posted three times, I only pressed submit once.
Sorry there is no way the 7th one is a small bathroom.
Any bathroom with a tub and a separate shower is NOT small!
We have a super tiny half bath (31"x51") under our staircase on the first floor. I just posted about it. I have to agree that it is really hard to photograph such small spaces but a couple of those bathrooms don't strike me as particularly small.

I wonder if the people from photo five know that they have a gnome living in their bathroom?
Some of these definitely do not qualify as "small" in my world. We Americans certainly have a warped sense of sizes these days...
I hope to submit my own small bathroom photos when the renovation of my 1/2 bath (with pink toilet, pink sink bowl, orange countertop, orange curtains, and medium dark wood paneling) is transformed to something more modern with a new shower (goodbye 2nd closet in the master bedroom.) Should be down by end of June!
These are nice, and they certainly qualify as small. But they are also in owner-occupied homes, and ones that have copious amounts of money to do extensive design work using expensive fixtures.
Large bathrooms are such a stupid waste of square footage. Numbers 2 and 4 look like a good size to me. As long as you can get out of the tub and dry off, it's big enough.
None of these is smaller than mine, and I don't really think of mine as small exactly, just ... efficient.
I sure would not do "quirky" in a small space. Simple & light works so much better.
Any bathroom w/ space enough for an armchair? Really? NOT small!
We are getting ready to renovate our tiny bathroom, but I can't find a vanity that I like. I would welcome any recommendations for a good source - as well as a good source for a nice deep bathtub.
Something inside me is moved by the first picture. Gray really is the new beige.
these are all great bathrooms, but it would help to have a source guide, especially for some of those sinks.
Agree with previous comments that some bathrooms are not small by any measurement. I'd take small bathroom rather than too large. Too big space lacks of character and I have empty space.
I know a lot of people here love gray, but I find the first picture just ghastly, grim, and cold.
hwvb, the Allen Roth line at lowes has some nice vanities. I had a local carpenter build mine.
Also, I know consignment/thrift stores sometimes have interesting prieces that can be converted into a vanit.
I love the idea of the artwork in the second to last picture
Love the striped floor! And I agree that some of these baths don't fit my definition of small. I recently renovated my own tiny bathroom and here is the vanity that I used as well as some other options for *real* small bathrooms.
